Investment and Music

Some kids even at a tender age are trained to love the beauty of music. Parents even go to the point where they need to invest heavily on musical instruments just to entice their sons and daughters to become experts someday in piano, violin, guitar and flute. It’s every parent’s wish to see their kids grow up and have their own recitals in front of a large crowd someday.

To make sure that they start right, a number of online stores that sell musical instruments encourage every parent to explore other items that help create a perfect music output for every rehearsal. Items such vestax turntables at Musicians Friend and amplifiers if chosen carefully help will produce nice resonance among orchestra instruments.

It’s very important to start everything right if you wish to invest your time and money by training your kid to become a musical virtuoso. Soon you’ll see a Wagner, Bach or even Debussy and it’s definitely something you’ll be very proud of as parents.

Techie Bonding Moment

Kids these days have different ways of bonding. During our time, I remember playing in the streets with the kids in the neighborhood and bonding with my best buddies under the heat of the sun.

I am so amazed how technology affects the life of many people nowadays particularly the children. Kids would prefer to be left alone with their gadgets than play the usual games with kids their age. Bella and Macky is not exempted to that but we try to regulate their exposure to gadgets same goes with television. I also deemed it important for them to be aware of the current trend for them not be left out because whether we like it or not, we are already in the information age and the best way to face it is to accept and learn from it.

With that justification, let me share with you the candid shots I took on Bella and Macky’s techie bonding moment:

Bella playing on iPhone while Kuya Macky is listening to music from his phone.

Selecting Toys for your Toddlers

Parents love their little ones and they always shower them with a lot of affection and care. They bond and spend ample time with them every day in spite of their hectic schedule. One of the activities that toddlers like to do is playing with their toys. Colorful and moving objects are usually very appealing to them. Toys play a crucial role in a child’s development that is why parents should choose them carefully and wisely. There are various things that moms and dads have to keep in mind when buying baby toys for playtime.

First, they should always make sure that they can enhance their little one’s problem-solving, creativity, motor and language skills. Pick interesting and educational toys that are appropriate for their age. They also have to check the fabric of the stuffed animals and dolls that they want to purchase. They should be washable and flame resistant. Some babies want to cuddle their plush toys on their beds so they should be washed often to make certain that they are clean and to thwart diseases like flu from spreading. Parents should also look for toys that will encourage their toddlers to be physically active.

Nowadays, most parents are on the go. They have to juggle home and work so they would rather purchase stuffs for their family like toys online than to go to brick-and-mortar stores. Many parents opt for online shopping because it is hassle-free. You don’t have to call the sales associate to ask about the product and you can avoid long queues in cashier stations as well as in parking areas. Online stores are available 24/7, so you can place your order anytime you want at the comfort of your own home. You cannot just save time but also money since they give discounts and offers to their customers. Prices and products are also very easy to check and compare. But before doing a transaction on the Internet, make sure that your chosen online store has a good reputation and they should also value privacy.

Selecting toys for your toddlers is one of the many exciting things a parent can do aside from the usual bonding activities at home. It is very liberating because aside from shopping we also get to educate ourselves more on the new things that would make our little ones happy.

Understanding Your Teens

It is a bit challenging for parents to guide children especially when they are on their “teenage years”. Maybe it is because we used to see them dependent on us most of the time. Entering teenage years is an important and crucial stage for every child’s development that is why parents must see to it that their teens are properly guided.

Every couple has different ways of dealing with their teens. Teenage boys and girls are different in many ways that is why handling them is a bit stressful. As for us, our teen in the house has become a little disturb especially when imposed with rules that he needs to obey. To help him loosen a bit, his father is usually spending more time with him to bond and to make him understand his current stage.

The father and son usually engage in activities for boys. They play basketball, video games, ride motorcycle and have fun with the all-terrain vehicles together. Part of their bonding time is replacing Polaris rzr parts when needed and also checking on the needed repairs for the motorcycle. The father wanted to teach his son some skills that every man should have. For him, it is the best way to prepare his son for the future.

All parents wanted the best for their child that is why aside from giving them good education and teaching them important values, it is also important to help them to be the true person they are. Knowing who they really are will give them the sense of confidence to face the world and the challenges in life. It may be a difficult task but understanding the need of your teens will enhance themselves and will really inspire them to achieve their dreams and be who they want to be in the future.

Loving and Supportive Parents

It is always but innate to every parent to think about the future and the welfare of his children. Kids do not just get to understand their parents’ decision and perspective in life but trust me; they only want nothing but the best of everything for each of them.

Parents work really hard to provide the financial needs of the whole family especially for their children. Sending the kids to the best schools needs budget particularly if they want to go to an exclusive school. Seeing to it that they get the best education until they earn a college degree is what all parents have in mind. Most of the time, they are sacrificing their own self just to provide the needs and wants of their children just to make them happy.

In reality, being a parent is a lifelong responsibility. Parenting is not like some kind of work wherein you can retire when you reach the retirement age; that is not the case with being parents though. Even if can no longer move a finger or your mind could not comprehend anymore, a parent will always be a parent until death.

Actually even until their last breath, parents would still think about their children’s family and their future. To ensure that their children can still enjoy a good life even without them, parents would usually talk to a lawyer for the possibility of creating a will. Lucky for those who knew texas last will and testament services for they can leave and execute the will easily.

It is such a blessing to have not just loving and supportive parents but also those who really work hard to provide for their family even in their absence.

How to Build a Go-Kart for Your Kids

Building a go-kart for your kids gives you quality time to spend together as a family. Not only will you be providing them with a fun, thrilling speed machine that they can drive around on their own, but by allowing them to help with the project, they will feel as though they were truly a part of something special. Building a go-kart can take anywhere from a day to a few weeks, depending on the features that you are installing, overall look of the go-kart that you are going for and your knowledge of construction, building and mechanics. These steps will have your kids cruising down the road in no time.

Gathering Materials

Before you can start building a go-kart for your kids, you must first gather the necessary materials that will be needed. To build your run of the mill go-kart, you will need a welder, petrol tank, brake pedal, throttle, seat, drive shaft, bearings, steering shaft, steering wheel, engine, seat, four wheels, bolts, washers, plywood, metal, square tubing, a thick steel plate and a round steel barstock. Many of these materials can be found at your local hardware store or can be purchased online with ease. Some retailers may also sell go-kart kits that come ready with everything that you need to build the vehicle plus step-by-step instructions.

Metal and Tubing Cutting

Create a design for the go-kart that you are building or obtain a pre-made plan online. You will then need to cut your metal tubing according to the design plan and carefully weld it all together. A small welder can be used to achieve good results. If you are not familiar with welding, consider hiring a professional for this stage. A range of companies that offer metal fabrication in Brisbane can be found with a quick Google Search.

A Man's Guide to Mother's Day

Mother's Day 2013 is fast approaching. If you're a man, chances are you're completely clueless about what to give your lovely wife for Mother's Day. Want to know a secret? All mums really want on Mother's Day in an extra hour in bed!

Here are a few Mothers Day tips to enable you to make the mum in your life's dozing dream a reality...

Be on the Ball. The moment you hear the kids are out of bed, take control. Refrain from burying your head under the pillows or feigning "asleepness". Up you get and take charge. If you want to give your beloved a lie-in, it's not necessarily being quiet (though that helps) – it's assuring her everything's in hand and that there's no need for her to get involved. Your job? Grab the kids, seize some clothes and get them dressed downstairs. And don't forget to give them their breakfast, too – it's going to be a hectic morning.

Let the Kids do the Jobs. Little ones love doing grown up things, so why not give them the chance to take the role of chore-leader? Whether it's "folding" up clothes, pairing up socks or tidying the living room while you wash the dishes, you don't need to be Mrs. Doubtfire to find ways to make cleaning fun. Don't get too overexcited and start shoving them in ovens, lofts or leaving them alone with lawn mowers.

Let Mum Enjoy Some "Me" Time. Bundling the children out the house can be a fabulous way to let Mum have some time to herself. As a rule of thumb, clad them in something warm – they feel the cold more than you. Take a walk in the woods, park or just wander around the shops – you might be surprised to discover places you never knew existed. Take some photos and show Mum when you get home or get the ickle ones collecting up flowers, leaves, acorns, conkers, daisies – anything you think Mum will like – and bring them home.

Supermarket Sweep. What better place to keep the kids entertained than in the supermarket? Delegate them the role of "food finder" – let them hunt for the spaghetti hoops, the broccoli, the baked beans – or better still, get them counting the tins out for you. If they're younger, give them "important" (e.g. resilient, insignificant) items to look after for you. Use this shopping trip to get Mum some yummy things for her breakfast.

Mother's Day Breakfast in Bed. What mum would say no to scrambled eggs on toast (or something similar), served to her in bed by her kids? Get the children in the kitchen, cracking eggs into jugs, adding salt and pepper, mixing, and so on – under your supervision, of course! Don't forget to add a nice cup of tea to the breakfast tray together with the flower/leaf/acorn/conker you found on the walk. News flash: do not try this before 11AM.

Homemade Mothers Day Gifts. After un-packing the shopping, get the kids making Mothers Day presents for their mum. Hand them some glue, newspaper and the nature bits you found earlier and make a collage or a similar creation. Just warn your wife it wasn't you that made the disfigured papier-mâché mould or the plate decorated with clumpy, glued-on pasta shapes.

Have you got your mum something for Sunday 10th March yet? As well as fancy flowers and charming chocolates, GoneDigging offers a plethora of personalised Mothers Day gifts, including personalised wine, champagne, gift experiences, engraved gifts and more. Go on; surprise your mum this Mother's Day 2013 with something personalised!

The Benefits of Baby Bottle Sterilizers Parents & Newborns

New parents experience intense joy and fulfillment when discovering the miracle of birth, but they also experience a sudden increase in the number and degree of their responsibilities: now, they have to think for three. The optimal development of the little creature that has been born depends completely on the parents. They must make sure that the baby is safe, protected against all possible dangers, happy and ready to grow into a healthy adult.

Keeping your baby safe when breastfeeding or bottle feeding

Babies, besides being completely dependent on their caregivers, are also very vulnerable. They can easily become ill, because their immune system is weak and cannot fight the countless germs of the outside world. So, parents must give their best to protect their babies against germs, bacteria and infections.

When the mother is breastfeeding, she does not have to worry too much about the possibility of her baby becoming ill. Breastfeeding strengthens the immune system of the baby, so the little one becomes better prepared to fight against germs. However, when the baby is bottle fed, things change. On the bottle, pacifiers and all other items used to feed the baby, there can be a lot of germs that threaten the health of the infant. In order to make sure that feeding the baby is completely safe, parents should use baby bottle sterilizers.

The advantages of using baby bottle sterilizers

Fortunately, there are plenty of solutions for bottle sterilization on the market: microwave sterilizers, electric sterilizers, or cold water sterilizers. These products help new parents sterilize bottles, breast pumps, pacifiers, cups or dummies used to feed the baby. Here are the benefits of using baby bottle sterilizers:

Safety – there is nothing more important that the safety and health of your little baby. Sterilizers will help you keep the baby away from germs, bacteria, infections and diseases.

Ease of use – the sterilizers on the market are very easy to use. You just have to put the baby bottle or pacifier in the sterilizer, wait for a few moments, and you are ready to use the germ free baby bottle to feed your baby.

Short time of use – when you have a baby, saving time is very important, because there are so many things to take care of. Some sterilizers do their job in a few minutes. So, if your baby has just dropped the pacifier on the floor, you can put it in the sterilizer and give it back to your baby completely sterilized in less than 5 minutes.

Affordable – sterilizers are pretty affordable, and buying them is a really smart investment. Purchasing and using a sterilizer could prevent your baby from getting ill, and help you use the money you have not on expensive treatments to cure your little one, but for other important baby purchases.

Remember that bacteria grows unexpectedly fast in milk and on items used for feeding your baby. Because there is nothing more valuable than the health of your baby, make sure you sterilize all the products you use to feed your baby.

Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Meeting

As a part of being concerned with Macky's well being, I always attend to every school activity that is required of me as a guardian. The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Meeting is actually part of a regular activity in Macky's school. Attending activities such as this one is one way of knowing Macky's performance in school, that is why I always take the chance to be present whenever I can.

He is already in 6th grade so I was required to attend the meeting for graduating students after the general PTA meeting. The teacher - facilitator discussed about the graduation fees and the possible yearbook solicitation and expenses. It is better to discuss it earlier for the parents to know and prepare for it since the required payment is P5,000.

I got Macky's card after the PTA Meeting but I was requested by his teacher to stay. Sir Jade talked about Macky's academic performance in the class. He didn't belong to the top ten this grading period but was included in the list of students who do not have grades below 80. Although academically Macky is doing quite well, there is concern on his attitude in school.

Sir Jade have  discussed to me about Macky's attitude wherein he was caught answering back to his teachers in a very discourteous manner. I am not surprise by it because Macky has the tendency to be like that sometimes. His teacher and I agreed to do several things to help Macky change this kind of attitude.

I talked to Macky calmly  about what I have learned that day. He admitted about what he did and explained his side but I told him that whatever the reason maybe, he should not answer his teacher that way. He asked for apology and promised to ask forgiveness from his teachers the next day. Macky's father was so furious after knowing about it but I told him that scolding Macky will not do any good, that is why he talked to Macky with composure.

We find the situation like this very challenging and I wish that Macky's parents were here to guide him. His teacher has told me about how Macky misses his mother and father and I think this somehow have a great effect on Macky's attitude and performance in school.

I blog about this with Macky's permission. He want to take the situation as a challenge and he want me to document it here in this blog for him to be reminded of his commitment to change for the better. I am so looking forward for that day Kuya Macky. You know that we love you and we will always be here to listen.

Everyone Deserves a Second Chance

Bringing up a child is always a challenge to all parents. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try to make things better for them they seem not to work as planned. Parenting can be a tough responsibility especially if you have to do it alone. The dilemma of single parents is when the child is starting to ask questions about their parents who are not present and seems not fulfilled with the given answer or explanation.

A single mom or dad can only do so much to fill the longing in every child’s heart but there is still a part of them that is somehow missing – and that is the presence of a complete family. We may not ask for it but sometimes, a problem caused by broken families may develop certain insecurity to a child thus manifests in his personality when he or she grows up. Since they already have a mind of their own, they tend to do things independently and at times neglected the advice of their parents or guardians.

That is why there is Morningside Recovery to give the needed assistance to people who have lost their life’s direction. Every lost child should find their way back and they can only do so if there are parents who are willing to guide them and the community to supports and accepted them for what they really are. After all, everyone deserves a second chance, right?

Back to Basics: Practical Ways to Bond with Family

A boat needs its sail to safely traverse to the open sea. Though the wind and waves can move the boat, the sail will be the one to give the boat support and direction. If the boat loses its sail, it will eventually lose balance, turn upside down, and slowly sink to nothingness.

We are the boats while our families are the sails. Without their love and guidance, we can easily end up like a wrecked boat at the bottom of the water. And it can be a possibility, especially if we lose the time to communicate because of a busy schedule or proximity issues.

In case you’re one of them, here are practical ways to maximize the quality time with your family even if it’s just on a weekend.

  • Organize backyard parties with family and close relatives. Let’s face it, gathering the whole family and close relatives for a day of lunch at home is quite a task. But if you’re really determined to embark on a new kin tradition, start the ball rolling by hosting a couple of lunch or dinner meal starring your signature lasagna or chicken roll.
  • Hold movie nights. It’s time to turn your living room into a mini theater. Though you don’t have to be equipped with the latest entertainment gadgets to enjoy this. A simple DVD player, decent TV set, and family’s choice of flick will be enough to have a great time.
  • Schedule monthly out-of-town tours. It may sound expensive but encouraging each member of the family to take part in saving for your trip expenses will be pleasurable to participate in. If in case monthly contributions fall a bit short, strolling in the mall isn’t a bad idea after all.
  •  Learn a new dish and cook it for your family. Show your family you love them by preparing different dishes that will surely take them to a satisfying cultural feast. Introduce them to flavorful cuisines that range from Mexican burritos to Singaporean Laksa.

Thoughts On Motherhood

Macky was given birth on the month of December 1999 in his mom's hometown. I heard from his mom that his original due date are supposed to be a month later but since his mother experienced a little complication during her pregnancy, giving birth to Macky came earlier. Initially, her mom plans to have a  natural hospital birth  if she was given the chance. But given her condition, she was advised to have an emergency confinement and was compelled to give birth via C-Section. Now, that is how our Macky boy was given birth.

Almost 13 years after, the baby is now a big boy and even trying harder to be a man at his early age. He is now very conscious about his physical appearance especially with his hair. He just got a stylish cut the other day and have his hair colored just like any other teenager. I wish his parents especially his mom are with him today  to personally witness how and what he's been up to lately. I am sure she will be  pleased and  happy  of his little man's achievement.

Being a mom does not start and end with being pregnant and at giving birth. Becoming a mother by whatever means is always a memorable and amazing experience to almost every woman. Being a good mother could not be judged by the way you have given birth to your baby but motherhood is a sum of so many other good things in the heart of a mom. As a mother myself I could not define what motherhood is, but the only thing I know is that when you are a mom you are willing to sacrifice to give the best of everything to your baby and even giving your life when necessary.

To all the mothers and soon to be moms out there, cheers to a happy and fulfilling journey to motherhood!
